When Trials Produce Patience

1 Peter 1:7 - That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Did you know the elements required to make a rainbow are always readily available during the day? The beautiful colors we see are a result of light, generally sunlight. So, why don't we see rainbows all the time?

Science shows when light passes through a prism or other similar object, it's "bent" and the color spectrum becomes visible. Recall the old ROYGBIV acronym from your science tests? As it turns out, light is reflected (bent) by rain, thus creating the rainbows we see.

So, in essence, it's not until it rains that we're able to see the beauty of the rainbow.

This is similar to the way things work in the kingdom of God. When we study the Word, we see most people really "shined" when they faced adversity. Just look at Hebrews 11, the faith chapter, and you'll find a veritable "Who's Who" of the Bible. When did the faith they possessed really get activated? It was when rain began to fall in their lives...

James 1:3-4 - 3Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

So, when trials come your way, or if it's currently raining in your life, remember that your faith is really being given a chance to shine, and through the adversity God will work patience and perfection in your life...
